A list of links relevant to the blog topics would be helpful for those who want to look for further information.

Thank you Laura for clarifying how to get onto this site and add a comment. I emailed Laura Wimberley because I was unable to add a comment on this site. So, she told me to sign into pbwiki.com with my email address. I'm a little "slow" in the technology dept. and there are SO many passwords and "places to go" in this program that I get confused! (Maybe it's my age!). Anyway, some things I really like about Joyce Velanza's homepage are:
1 The virtual tour is great
2. I like the clusters for drop-in use
3. The "askme" link with librarian email would be very helpful.
4. Of course, the school web page link is essential
5. Clicking onto the computers with pathfinders is cool
One of my personal favorites for researching is answers.com. Most of the information I receive from this website is very factual and isn't tied into advertisments and the like.
Like Lori, I really like the use of graphics for a homepage, because it takes into consideration "visual" learners.

More ideas:
1. Links to Recommended reading and or summer reading (our district puts out a recommended summer reading list)
2. I also work part-time in a public library, some possibilities:
a. Teen Summer Reading Program
b. Classes/ Clubs/ ex: Guitar Hero from such and such time (after school?)
3. Links related to curriculum. As an example my intermediate school has the students do a lot of health type projects. I post in my library good websites to access teen health issues.
4. My district also subscribes to www.worldbookonline.com. Links should be available to access various research topics.

I think another sidebar could be student resources that are not necessarily academic. I have a few links for my students for information on colleges, health (which can be controversial), and life planning as well as some for fun, but that are somewhat educational like the Factmonster games. What do you think?

I have a large list of internet links, mostly for Social Studies. If you would like me to email it to you, let me know. My school keeps students on a whitelist. Instead of blocking websites based on topic, we are limited to only websites that are added to the list. As a result, other teachers and I have worked to find as many good websites as possible. I add new sites every week. My IT dept got so tired of adding sites for me that they gave me permissions to add them myself. It's great because if I find something for a student, I can add it immediately for everyone to use. I will be going through my links list to find my faves for my blog.

Hi everyone, Tonight I added some more links to the Teacher resources and to the reading recommendations page. I also worked on getting all the pages to show up on the sidebar. I think I got it to work. Hope everyone is having a good week!

I am adding a few pages and organizing some of the pages we've already contributed to. As we come across articles that will help us with our final vision project, we can put the links to our Library Science page.

Greetings Everyone! Lori and I met this morning and I wanted to pass on what we discussed and created. Please feel free to comment, critique, etc.
- please add your info to the OUR GROUP page. Does it need any more columns for info?
- We added a link to the Front Page to the middle school learning commons set up by Prof L (in case we choose to use it).
- There is a page for adding images that you think would be good for the polished blog.
- For the link format, how about using the following
Title of page
URL link
1 sentence why it is a good site
(see Cories entries on the teacher resource page)
-there is a page to add blogs and wikis that you think the rest of us should check out, cuz they are sooooo cooooool!
- Lori is organizing the Teacher Resource page into subject matter. Does someone want to volunteer to do this for the student page?
Thanks! It was great to get together and work through some of this stuff. Hopefully more of us will be able to meet in the future. 6:30 tonight is another Elluminate gathering if anyone is available. The password is welcome. Peace...Sarah
ps please comment on stuff so we know if the group is agreed on the path we are taking...I woud hate to be stepping on anyones toes! Sarah

Oh! I totally forgot...we also added a class questions link so that we can use each other as resources to help us through this class (stolen idea from the HS group I think). And if anyone has an opportunity - lets try to visit the other wikis to forage and comment on the great work that they are doing. Sarah

Hi! Last little note - a new page is being created called "At the Library" for all the stuff you would have on your school library page. Please look at the comments on the Student Resource page as we added categories. Sarah

7/7 I have to pick up my daughter from dance tonight at 7:30 so I might be missing our group meeting. I am basically happy to do anything you want me to do if you would just email me. Thanks! Jean

Opps, I meant Sarah thank you for setting up the blog. The funny thing is that my son's first band (he is a musician) was "Go Beyond"! Jean

Help! I've forgotten how to make a new page appear in the sidebar! Thanks

Okay never mind, I figured it out. Once the page is created, edit sidebar and put the cursor where you want the link to appear and then click on the link...voila! I added Addicted to Love to the sidebar, too.
